The Association for Welding and Allied Processes of Namibia (WeldNAM) serves as the country's representative member society in the International Institute of Welding (IIW).
In partnership with the University of Namibia, WeldNAM delivers the International Welding Engineer (IWE) qualification, a globally recognised credential that strengthens workforce competence across Namibia's industrial sectors.
For the further industrialisation of Namibia, the country requires knowledgeable welding engineers, particularly in key growth sectors such as green hydrogen, oil and gas, mining, shipbuilding, and steel construction. WeldNAM ensures that Namibia's welding workforce meets international standards of quality, safety, and global competitiveness.

The IWE programme forms part of the IIW Education, Training, and Qualification System, recognised worldwide and aligned with European and international best practice. Graduates meet the competence requirements of ISO 3834 and ISO 14731, qualifying them for leadership roles in welding coordination, quality assurance, and industrial engineering.
